Show Him You Love Him
It is Monday morning, 11th January 2021, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for the day.
If we go to the Gospel of John, Chapter 14, and verse 15, Jesus says:“If you love Me, keep My commandments.”
Obedience is better than saying sorry all the time. We can’t pick and choose God’s commandments, we have to obey all of them. God instructs us one command at a time and as we obey, He floods us with His blessing. Don’t tell Jesus that you love Him, show Him that you love Him, by obeying His Word.
Remember, loving Jesus empowers us to obey His commands. Disobedience on the other hand makes us stagnant. It makes us water-logged, lacking in power and in joy. It is not comfortable, sometimes, to obey the commandments, it even frustrates other people because it sometimes doesn’t make sense, does it? But if we want God’s Hand of blessing on our lives, on our family and on our future, we must obey what God has told us.
Remember, it is not for God’s sake - It is purely for our own well-being.
Many years ago, we had a big tent meeting on the farm. It was Sunday morning, that tent was packed. There was an expectancy in the air, everybody was excited. The praise and worship music team had finished, and it was time to hear the Word. I was walking around the back of the tent to come in, onto the platform, with a group of men. The time was of the essence.
Just then, a little boy ran up with a cell phone is his hand and he was quite shy and I stopped and I said, “Son, would you like a photo of you and me?” He said, “Yes, please Sir.” And the guys said, “Angus, we can’t do it, the people are waiting - We need to go.”
I said, “Just hang on a minute.” I felt The Holy Spirit saying to me: “Just give this little boy his heart’s desire.”I knelt down on the grass, he came and stood next to me. I gave the cell phone to one of the assistants and the battery was flat. Aaah! What do we do now! They said, “Angus, you can’t wait, You have got to go.”
I said to this little boy, “Go and get another cell phone.”
He ran off to go and find his mother. A red-faced lady came running up so full of apologies. I said, “No problem.” We knelt down and we got the photo taken.
I walked into that tent and I want to tell you that the fire came down that morning. There was the love and the power of God in that meeting, but I also want to say to you that if I had not obeyed the unction of The Holy Spirit to get a photograph taken with that little boy I would have left Jesus outside the tent, and it would have been a disaster.
Today obey whatever He tells you to do.
