Our Finest Hour
This is our finest hour. There is so much darkness and negativity in the world - this is the time for the Christian to shine. It is our time now.
It’s not so much what we do or say but rather who we are. This is the time, not to hide our light. It is time to bring out the God colours into this dark world. We need to shine and light up the world. Do not hide it, then the world will have hope and will have glory in Jesus.
We need to go public - That is all it is. Tell people what Jesus means to you! I remember, distinctly, the day I gave my life to Christ in that little church on the main street of Greytown - myself, Jill and our children.
We came back to the farm and we were sitting in the garden having a cup of tea and a motor car arrived and out got a lovely couple. And this man said to me, he said, “I saw you went forward this morning in the service, to give your life to Jesus.” Straight away, the old defensive self-made Scotsman said, “Yes, I did and what about it?”
Then he challenged me, he said, “Well, if you meant it, tell the first three people that you meet tomorrow morning, what you did today.” Of course I said, “Yes, I will.” Can tell you the next morning, I was sweating because I had been in the pub with the boys on Saturday night.
I had a Damascus Road experience, you see. I remember going next door to my neighbour, another farmer who has since gone to be with The Lord, and I said, “Can I speak to you?” And he said, “Yes.”
I said: “I just want to tell you that yesterday I had a life-changing experience.”
“What happened, Angus?”
I said, “I asked Jesus Christ to be my Lord and Saviour.” And you know, he was so receptive, and I was able to pray with him and we went on our way.
I want to tell you that all it is, is one hungry beggar showing another hungry beggar where to find bread. It is not about a big preach, it's about reality. Go out today and tell the first three people that you meet that Jesus Christ is the hope of the world. That is all you have got to do.
It could be a petrol pump attendant, it could be someone in a shop, and you will be surprised at their response. They will probably break down and weep and say, “Thank you for reminding me, and can you pray for me.” And, “I am backslidden and I turned my back on God but I want to come home.” Open the door for them!
Have a wonderful day and God bless you.
