Everything in Season

“To everything, there is a season,
A time for every purpose under heaven:
A time to be born,
And a time to die;
A time to plant,
And a time to pluck what is planted.
— Ecclesiastes 3:1

I am sitting on the porch of this delightful little thatched cottage and I am listening to the early morning Jacanas singing. It is still very dark, there is a family of swallows nesting in the top corner of the porch and they will start to busily fly in and out of their little mud-built nest... very shortly.

Soon they will start to band together on the power lines, hundreds of them and they will start to discuss the new season and the long trip, up through Africa, to their summer home in Europe, while we here in Africa get ready and prepared for our winter season.

What season are you going through, at the moment, in your life?

Could it be old age, or maybe you are just busy leaving university and you are facing that big world - Quite overwhelming, isn’t it? Or maybe it is a marriage that is looming ahead, maybe it is the birth of your first little baby? Whatever it might be, it can be quite scary, don’t you agree?

But the wonderful reassurance that we have is that Jesus goes before us and has promised that He will lead us and protect us, every step of the way. Hebrews 13:5: He says: “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

So just as He leads the little swallows on their journey north to Europe, so God will lead us in our new season. So don’t be afraid.

Just trust in Him and step out, He will make a way before you where there seems to be no way.

God bless you and have a wonderful day.
