Finish Well

It is Thursday morning, 11th November, the year 2021, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for the day.

“For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it”
Luke 14:28

Rather don’t start if you have no intention of finishing. Remember, no one is interested in good starters. It is good finishers that folk are looking for these days.

“I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work which You have given Me to do.”
John 17:4

Jesus finished the work that His Father sent Him to do. It is 'Mission Accomplished' - He finished the job. Now maybe this morning you are listening to this message and you're wondering whether you should continue with your university studies because it is getting very tough. It is getting very steep - the mountain is getting very hard... Keep on keeping on, you will finish it.

Maybe it is a business that you have just started and you are saying: “I don’t know if I can complete this.” If God has called you to do it He will give you the strength and the courage to finish. Maybe you are struggling in your church, as a pastor, and you just wondering, “Is it going to work or not?” Keep on preaching the Gospel. I remember going to Ladysmith for the first campaign I had ever organized in 1989. That first night I thought, “Lord I am going to preach.” There was nobody in the hall, it was empty! I was down, underneath, praying and at 7 o’clock I came up and I said: “Lord, I will preach to the chairs.” I think God sent some angels because the hall was half-full and we had the most incredible meeting. By the end of the week, it was full.

Maybe it is your marriage today. Maybe you are struggling in your marriage and you say, “Angus, we just can’t get on..." You have to, you made a covenant - You made a commitment. Finish the job! Some of us don’t realize just how close we are to the finish line. Maybe it is just around the next corner.

Keep on running. Keep your eyes on the Lord, He will give you the strength to finish the job. Have a blessed day.

God bless you and goodbye.
