Ask Him

It is Friday morning, 3rd December, the year 2021, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

“What do you want Me to do for you?”
He said, “Lord, that I may receive my sight.”
Then Jesus said to him, “Receive your sight; your faith has made you well.” And immediately he received his sight, and followed Him, glorifying God.”

Luke 18:41

Matthew 7:7 says:

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.”

We need to be like the blind man and start asking Jesus for what our needs are. James 4:2 says:

“Yet you do not have because you do not ask.”

Now if we go to John 14:14, Jesus says:

“If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.”

Wow - What a promise from God! Why don’t we use these opportunities that the Lord has given us? But you see, if we look at John14:15, the Lord says:

“If you love Me, keep My commandments.”

We need to ask according to Jesus’s will. It is no good just saying, “Lord, I want an aeroplane” or, “Lord, I want a Mercedes Benz” or “Lord, I want You to...” No. When you ask correctly, according to the Word of God, the Lord will answer your prayers. I am a testimony to that. God has answered my prayers, I tell you what, so many times. Another man who asked correctly was the wisest man who ever lived - His name was Solomon.

In the dream, remember, the Lord said: “What would you want of Me?”

Because he was a godly man, he asked, “Give me wisdom so that I can govern my people.” And the Lord’s heart was moved because he had asked correctly, He said: “Because you have not asked for your own personal needs, I am going to give you wisdom but I am also going to give you power. I am going to give you riches and I am going to give you worldwide fame.”

If you ask correctly, the Lord will answer your prayers. If your little boy or little girl came and asked you for something and you could afford it, wouldn’t you give it to them? Of course, you would - Well, how much more our Heavenly Father. Do you know what holds you back... One word: pride. “No, no, I will do it my way” or “If I can’t pay for it, I don’t want it.”

Now, that blind man was desperate. He asked Jesus by faith and Jesus healed him. Now what I want to do for you is I want to pray a little prayer with you. I would like you to join me in this prayer and let us ask the Lord for something that you really need. Maybe the healing of a loved one, maybe some money that you need for Christmas, maybe employment - I don’t know what it is... I want you to name that thing in the middle of the prayer. Pray this prayer after me:

Dear Lord Jesus,
Today I ask you to forgive me for being so proud that I have not by faith asked you for anything.
I am asking You today, Lord (pray this after me) to please (name it, whatever that thing is)
And by faith, I believe Lord, that You will hear my prayer and answer it.
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen.

God bless you and have a wonderful day!
Goodbye
