The Living God

It is Tuesday morning, 14th December, the year 2021, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

“For He is not the God of the dead but of the living, for all live to Him.”
Luke 20:38

He is not dead, He is alive. He is actually, the God that raises the dead. You see, if we are in Christ, then we live forever. We are going through a door - That is how you die, just a door opens, you walk through the door into the next room. As simple as that!

Remember the thief on the cross? Just before he died, he repented and he said, “Lord, remember me in Heaven.” And what did the Lord say? He said:

“ …today you will be with Me in Paradise.”
Luke 23:43

In Zulu, we say: “Namuhla uzakuba Nami eParadisi.”
What a lovely promise. Now the thief wasn’t a good man, you see, that is why he was being crucified. But he acknowledged that Jesus Christ was the Son of the living God. Luke 24: 5-6:

“Why do you seek the living among the dead?
He is not here, but is risen!”

I have been to Israel, I have been to Jerusalem and I have been to the Old City, the tomb / the grave is empty! Why - Because Jesus is not dead! That is why Paul, the apostle could so boldly say in Philippians 1:21:

“For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.”

You cannot frighten a Christian with Heaven. If we live, we live for Christ. If we die, then we are going home. Now, remember, this is not our permanent home. We are just passing through. We are sojourners in a promised land. Let us hold lightly to the things of this world because soon, we will be leaving them behind. Just make sure that your name is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. And how do we do that - Just by acknowledging Him as Lord and Savior. Pray this prayer after me:

Dear Lord Jesus,
Today, thank you for reminding me that You are alive.
You are not in the grave and Lord, that You are coming back very soon,
to take Your own, of whom I am one, back to Heaven with You.
In Jesus’ Name.
Amen.

Have a wonderful day.
God bless you, and remember He is alive!
