Looking Forward

It is Friday morning, 31st December, the last day of the year, 2021, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today!

“No one, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”

Luke 9:62

We are about to face a brand-new year and we need to implement the ploughing principle. I was taught to plough in bonnie Scotland when I was a young man of nineteen years old. It is critical that the first furrow is dead straight -That is the most important aspect of ploughing.

We are starting a new year tomorrow and we need to look forward. Depending on how you execute the first cut in that field with that plough will influence the rest of the field. As we are about to start the new year the same principle applies.

"he who ploughs should plough in hope…”

1 Corinthians 9:10

We are looking forward, we are not looking behind us. You get on that tractor, you put that tractor in the correct gear, you set the plough correctly - each plough shear going into the ground at the same depth.

Then, we pick a point on the horizon, a church steeple, a large tree or a building and we line that up with the nose of the tractor. Now listen to this, then by faith, we start ploughing... We do not look behind us. That is a fatal mistake. As soon as you do that you will pull the steering wheel, put a kink in the first furrow and that will be exaggerated every time you come down the next line. By the time you finish that large field, it will look terrible, crooked lines like a snake.

We need to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, the Author and the Finisher of our faith - Hebrews 12:2. Put the past behind you, 2021 is almost over and you are looking at a brand new field with a brand new plough and a brand new tractor. Let’s start ploughing for Jesus.

Let’s look forward because He is coming back very soon.

Have a wonderful day.
God bless you and goodbye.
