Standing for Jesus

A very good morning to you! It is Wednesday morning, 11th of May 2022, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

If we go to the New Testament:

“The Lord is my helper;
I will not fear.
What can man do to me?”

Hebrews 13:6

C.H. Spurgeon, that great English preacher, said: “He who fears God has nothing else to fear.” I really like that - If God is standing behind you, the devil won’t come near you and it does not make the slightest difference to if even the hugest threats of man are made against us. Yes, we will be mocked and even made fools of by the world, with our stand for Jesus - That is a given, Jesus told us about that. We cannot serve two masters but serving God and being scorned by others will not break any of our bones. If Jesus is our helper, He makes us very bold, so when we are teased by the world's system, let it not bother us.

I remember a little boy who loved Jesus very much. He was an excellent Shofar blower, he could blow that Shofar beautifully. He was probably not the most popular boy amongst his peers because of his undivided stand for Jesus. His father contacted us and asked us if this young boy, I think he was about twelve or thirteen years old, could blow the Shofar at our National Prayer Meeting in Bloemfontein a few years ago. We agreed. That little boy came up onto the stage, I was standing right next to him, and he blew that Shofar so beautifully and so sweetly in front of crowd numbering over one million people, live.

“The Lord is my helper;
I will not fear.

Hebrews 13:6

That little boy had no more problems after that, I can imagine, with his peers.
