His Secret Counsel

A very good morning to you! It is Friday morning, 20th May 2022, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

If we go to the Old Testament:

“For the perverse person is an abomination to the Lord,
But His secret counsel is with the upright.”

Proverbs 3:32

And then we go to Psalm 25:14:

“The secret of the Lord is with those who fear Him,
And He will show them His covenant.”

God will not share His close, personal issues with a devious person. He will not allow us to enter into that private place with Him. His intimate relationship He only shares with those of an upright spirit. Secret counsel is found between God and His people. His personal friendship He shares with only those who love and respect Him and those people who are straight forward. Have you noticed that when you are involved with something you know is wrong, God seems so far away from you - doesn’t He?

God's guidance, blessing and friendship are only with those who love and honour Him. When we are invited by friends, to a questionable place, maybe to some nightclub or some place that is borderline, we need to ask ourselves a question. Could I take the Lord into this place with me? If the answer is: “No, I would be embarrassed to take the Lord there”, then you need to leave immediately.

Many years ago, I was invited to a huge gathering in a major city in South Africa. They asked me to be one of the speakers, we were going to pray for the nation. When I arrived, straight away, I felt uneasy, they took me up onto the platform in front of multitudes of people. I looked around and I saw people on the platform with me from different faiths, worshipping different gods - Straight away I felt the Holy Spirit saying to me, “What are you doing here?” Well, I had a choice to make... I was most embarrassed but I stood up and walked straight off the platform, through the crowd to the carpark, got in my car and drove away. I was so relieved.

Please don’t compromise your special relationship with Jesus just to make other people happy. Have a wonderful day.

God bless you and goodbye.
