Praise Him
A very good morning to you! It is Saturday morning, 28th May 2022, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.
If we go straight to 2 Chronicles 20:21:
“Praise the Lord,
For His mercy endures forever.”
And then we go to the New Testament, to Luke:
“But He answered and said to them, “I tell you that if these should keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out.”
Luke 19:40
There is power in praise. Jesus said to the Pharisees, “If these people don’t praise me, the very rocks will praise Me.” We don’t praise God for the situation necessarily, but we praise Him in the situation. If you are going through a hard time at the moment, you say, “But Angus, how can I praise God, my business is going bankrupt, my child is sick or my future is uncertain?” You praise Him in the situation... You don’t praise Him for the situation because He is the one who makes us over-comers through our hardship and our tribulation. Praise takes our eyes off ourselves and it puts our eyes on the Lord. It takes our eyes off the problem and puts our eyes on the problem-solver.
You know, some of our prayers... Let's be honest now, some of our prayers are like shopping lists. That is all we do - We just: "Give me, give me, give me! Lord give me this, give me that. Help me here!” We concentrate on ourselves instead of praising and worshipping the Lord. Praising Him for who He is and not for what He can do for us. Job, that farmer, he got it right, he said:
“Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him.”
Job 13:15
We have got to take our eyes off ourselves this morning, put them on Jesus and praise Him for who He is. Do you remember that beautiful old hymn:
Turn your eyes upon Jesus
Look full in His wonderful face
And the things of the earth will grow slowly dim
In the light of His glory and grace
Come on, you can sing that hymn as well.
Have a wonderful day and praise Him because He is worthy of all our praises! Jesus bless you, have a lovely Saturday.
Goodbye.
