People

A very good morning to you! It is Saturday morning, 12th of February, the year 2022. And this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

“Jesus said to him, "Rise, take up your bed and walk." And immediately the man was made well, took up his bed, and walked. And that day was the Sabbath. The Jews, therefore, said to him who was cured, "It is the Sabbath; it is not lawful for you to carry your bed."

John 5:8

We need to be so careful that we don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater... as the saying goes.

"What man is there among you who has one sheep, and if it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will not lay hold of it and lift it out?”

Matthew 12:11

Don’t miss it... It is all about people. The Jews were looking at an absolute miracle! This man had not walked for 38 years and now he was walking. Yet they were more concerned that he was carrying his bed on the Sabbath because they were not supposed to do any work on the Sabbath. That is so sad, I see it so often.

After a healing meeting we took in a coastal town, many years ago, it was an amazing meeting, we experienced a mini-revival. People were healed every single night. We bussed people in from the local townships. They were getting healed and after the campaign, we phoned up the local churches in the area and said, “Can we bus the people to the church on Sunday morning.” They said, “Please don’t bring them here. We cannot cope with those sorts of numbers.” - So sad.

You know two young girls came to our church a few years back and I must admit, they were very suggestively dressed. After the church meeting, a visiting church leader approached us and said, “This is the House of God. How can you allow this kind of dress code in your church, from your congregation?” We looked at them and said, “But we have never seen them before.” They were visitors, two young girls seeking to find Jesus. They were coming to our church for the first time.

Be very careful to take the plank out of your own eye before you try and take the splinter out of your brother’s eye, Jesus says. And you will find that in Matthew 7:3.

Today, let us spend time with people. People are our first priority, people were Jesus’s first priority. Yes, we have to obey the law. That is what it is there for but remember, it has been put there to benefit people.

Have a wonderful day.
God bless you and goodbye.
