He Wants Us

And a very good morning to you! It is Thursday morning, 24th of February, the year 2022. And this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

“But we are all like an unclean thing,
And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags”

Isaiah 64:6

Wow - It is a heavy scripture. Then we go straight to Matthew:

“Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’”

Matthew 7:22

The Lord is not interested in our good efforts. Mark 8:36:

“For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?”

He does not want our efforts, He says they are like filthy rags - He wants us. Just like your wife, sir... She wants you, not all the gifts that you can bring her. Not all the things that you are building up, no, she wants you. She married you! Your daughter, Mother, she wants you, not what you can give her. And God wants us. Not what we can do for Him, He doesn’t need us... He wants us! He created you and me to have fellowship with Him.

John Wesley sailed, in a big sailing ship, all the way to the United States of America to find God. He preached his heart out to the First Nation people (the original inhabitants of America) and not one single convert did he see. Remember, he had a Master of Arts degree from the university. He came all the way back to the UK, very disheartened. On his way over, coming back home, the ship engaged in a huge storm on the Atlantic Ocean and the ship was about to sink.

As he looked up, on the surface of the ship, there was a group of families, German Moravian Christians, and what were they doing... They were singing hymns and they were worshipping God. The sea washed across the deck of the ship, it was in big trouble and he realized he didn’t know God at all. He went to a little Bible Study when he got back to London in a place called Aldersgate and he sat there and he said, “A strange warmth came over my heart and scales fell from my eyes.” He came to know and to have fellowship with Jesus Christ and then God used him to start one of the biggest revivals the world has ever seen.

Today spend time with your loved ones, spend time with God, and not concentrate on what you can do for Him, but spend time with Him.
