Born Again

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 18th of February, 2023, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

The most well-known favourite book in the whole Bible, 66 books of Scriptures, has to be the Gospel of John 3:16:

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

“Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
John 3:3

“Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.”
John 3:7

Nicodemus was a very clever man, he was a member of the Sanhedrin, the governing body of Israel. He came by night because he didn’t want anyone to see him. He said to this Carpenter from Nazareth, “How can a grown man go back into his mother’s womb and be born again a second time?” Jesus said, “Unless you are born again you will never see the Kingdom of God.” Now, being born again is not some charismatic, pentecostal or evangelical term. No, not at all! In fact, it is a Jesus term! It means a new beginning, it means starting afresh today, without a doubt the greatest of all miracles. It is a greater miracle than the parting of the Red Sea, it is a bigger miracle than fire coming down from Heaven or even raising the dead. Oh, my dear friend, I have seen it with my own eyes so many times before, and every time it is incredible. I am laughing and crying at the same time. You see a man or a woman who has been a slave to alcohol or drugs, an adulterer instantly set free in a blink of an eye. All fear, all anger, and all doubt are taken away and replaced by peace, love, forgiveness, and patience. Oh yes, a brand-new creature.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
2 Corinthians 5:17

It happened to me, my wife and my family 44 years ago today, the 18th of February, 1979, What about you today? Just pray this prayer with me if you want to and God can change your life as He did ours.

Dear Lord Jesus,
I acknowledge that I am a sinner and I need you to save me from eternal damnation.
Please forgive me for all the sinful life that I have lived in the past.
Today I want to start all over again.
I ask You to be my Lord and my Saviour.
Thank You for dying for me, a sinner, on the Cross of Calvary and because You live, Lord, I will live forever.
In Jesus' name,
Amen.
