Changed Lives

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 20th of April, 2023 and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

“He who formerly persecuted us now preaches the faith which he once tried to destroy.”
Galatians 1:23

The miracle of a changed life. In an instant, God changed Saul of Tarsus into Paul the Apostle. I have seen it too often to call it a coincidence. No, not at all! From a person who was hell-bent on destroying lives, to a man who was totally committed to saving lives at all costs. There is nothing more beautiful to see in the world than a changed life, a world that is so negative, a world that is so sad and then to see God perform a miracle in an instant and change a man or a woman from being totally anti-Christ to becoming a follower of Jesus. It is truly beautiful.

In 2008, we had a big tent on the farm which could seat 30,000 people, but we saw 60,000 men arrive on the farm. I will never, ever forget what took place in that tent on that weekend. Jan de Wet is one of South Africa’s top Gospel singers. He is also a minister of the Gospel. He wrote an article for the newspapers about what happened in that big tent. He said that when he arrived he saw men all standing with their arms folded, looking very reserved and probably quite uncomfortable, not knowing what was going to happen and what to expect. He said in the article that he was very relieved that he was not the speaker that weekend, but the music started, the Holy Spirit was present, and the men started singing in unison. Folks, it is something I will never forget. The arms then started dropping to their sides, then hands were starting to wipe tears from their eyes and then the hands were raised in unison to worship God. An amazing move of God took place through that tent and lives were changed forever in an instant.

That is exactly what happened to Paul, the Apostle. He said, “I have no persuasion from men.”

He says in Galatians 1:16, that God …

revealed His Son in me, that I might preach Him among the Gentiles, I did not immediately confer with flesh and blood,…”

The Holy Spirit was his teacher. Straight after his conversion when he fell off his horse on the road to Damascus, he went to Arabia and lived there for three years. The Holy Spirit taught him, and he became possibly the greatest ambassador for Jesus Christ in the whole Bible.

Keep on praying for your loved one. The Lord will bring him or her through for you.

Jesus bless you and goodbye.
