Responsibility

It is Friday morning, the 21st of April, 2023. I greet you in Jesus' precious name! This is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

“He who tills his land will have plenty of bread, But he who follows frivolity will have poverty enough!”
Proverbs 28:19

We must realise we have a responsibility in this life. There is no use going around, having no purpose or no value. It doesn’t help to be a joker because you will reap nothing.

Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently for it until it receives the early and latter rain. You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand.”
James 5:7-8

We have got to be responsible. We must be serious about life. Life is not a joke. We need to manage what God has blessed you and me with very carefully. I am talking Sir, about looking after your wife and your children. I am talking Madam, about looking after your husband and your children and your possessions. Take your responsibility seriously at work. If God has put you in a senior position, don’t take it lightly. If God has blessed you with a lot of money, use it carefully for the Kingdom of God. Do not be carefree, there are always consequences for our foolish actions.

I want to read a little story to you that I got out of a devotional just the other day. It's a very sad story. It's about a very brave, talented, mighty eagle. It goes like this:

“One day in autumn, while on the open prairie, I saw an eagle, mortally wounded by a rifle shot. With his eyes still gleaming like small circles of light, he slowly turned his head, giving one last searching and longing look toward the sky. He had often swept those starry spaces with his wonderful wings. The beautiful sky was the home of his heart. It was the eagle’s domain. It was there he had displayed his splendid strength a thousand times. In those lofty heights, he had played with the lightning and raced the wind, and now, far below his home, the eagle lay dying. He faced death because just once, he forgot, and he flew too low.”

Today, take your life seriously and the call that God has given you and do a good job for the Lord.

Jesus bless you and goodbye.
