Choose Life
I greet you in Jesus’ name on this beautiful summer’s day on the farm! It is Friday, it is the 7th of October 2022, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
Jeremiah 29:11
We know that very well-known scripture, John 10:10 which says:
“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”
Luke 13:34, the Lord says:
“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, but you were not willing! “
I want to say something to you, my dear friend. God loves you and me. Jesus is for us. He is not against us. He does not desire that you and I suffer unnecessarily. The proof of that is the Father sending His Son to earth to die in our place. Remember in the Garden of Gethsemane, He said to the High Priest’s soldiers, “Let these go their way, I am He.” He said, “I am the one you are looking for." (John 18:8). He is always protecting us.
He died on a cross in excruciating pain, nails through His hands, through His feet, ugly thorns crushed onto His head, exhausted from continual beating and totally humiliated by the public. He did it for you and me! God’s Son could still look down in that situation and ask John, the disciple, to look after Mary, His earthly mother, and Mary to look after John. What a Saviour!
Man’s sin, total disregard and selfishness have brought this world into the state that it is today. We need to be Jesus to a dying world. I received a message yesterday which touched my heart very deeply. A beautiful young lady in the prime of her life was found dead on the side of the road. She said in her message on her device a few days before, “My life may not be the way I planned it but it is exactly the way God planned it.” How sad! That's not the case at all. Jesus had a plan, but my dear friend, you and I have a choice. We can choose life or we can choose death. I want to say to you today, let’s choose life. Jesus Christ is for us! He is not against us. Please remember that.
Have a wonderful day!
God bless you and goodbye.
