Don't Waste Time
A very good morning to you! It is Saturday morning. I greet you in Jesus’ precious name. It is the 17th of September 2022, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.
“Then they all wept freely, and fell on Paul’s neck and kissed him, sorrowing most of all for the words which he spoke, that they would see his face no more. And they accompanied him to the ship.”
Acts 20:37
That was a sad time. They loved Paul so much. They knew they would never see him again in this world because he was on his way to Rome and there he would die for his faith. Many times, we only realise how much we love someone when they are no longer there. G K Chesterton said, “The way to love anything is to realise that it may be lost.” That is quite a powerful word. In other words, do not take that friendship or that relationship for granted.
Visit that person while you can, phone that person, or write to them because you don’t know if they will be there tomorrow. We need to appreciate the time spent together. Do not waste time arguing or bickering about trivial things which do not matter in the long term.
I went to New Zealand to preach the Gospel. I took my wife, Jill, with me and we went for 6 weeks. It was a very, very tiring trip. I was preaching almost every single day. Jill came with me for the first 3 weeks and then she went back home because the children were still at school. I remember I was very tired. I had been so busy with a hectic itinerary. I took her to the little airport and the plane taxied up to the top of the runway, turned around to take off and then there was a mechanical problem so it taxied back to the terminal and all the passengers got off the plane again. I was able to spend an extra 2 hours with my wife and I want to tell you, I have never forgotten how precious those 2 hours were.
Don’t waste time. Today visit, phone, go and be with that person who you love so much.
Don’t forget to spend time with Jesus.
God bless you and goodbye.
