Encouragement

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 27th of October 2022, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

“And from there, when the brethren heard about us, they came to meet us as far as Appii Forum and Three Inns. When Paul saw them, he thanked God and took courage.”
Acts 28:15

We must encourage one another. Paul was on his way to Rome. He was a prisoner but the brethren came and encouraged him. As believers, we have friends everywhere, all over the world, in every area - we need not despair. Romans 8:31 says - If Christ be for us then who can stand against us?

I remember going up into Central Africa like yesterday, with a big 20-ton yellow seed-sower, taking the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the lost. We were right up on the very Northern part of Zambia, where Tanzania and the Congo join together. We had had no contact with home for over four weeks. We were tired, we were weary, we were still pushing on and we still hadn’t gotten to our ultimate destination. I will never forget it. I was trying to make contact with my family but cell phones were not in existence. The only way you could make contact was with a satellite phone and we didn’t have the money to purchase one.

We came into a little village and we didn’t know anybody. We had no contacts at all and there were just traditional primitive little huts. As we stopped just on the edge of that village, we walked into that little town and there was a small, little office. We walked in there hoping to maybe get an email through so that we could let our family know that we were still alive. A young Zambian lady was sitting at the desk, as we walked in we saw her with a huge smile on her face. She was playing beautiful Christian music! I couldn’t believe it! She was part of an overseas aid organisation. She made us so welcome. She gave us the key to her little house and asked us to please go to her house and have a nice hot bath, we hadn’t had a hot bath for over four weeks. Her maid made us the most beautiful fruit salad, from local paw-paw, and we sat there and filled ourselves and we had a beautiful bath and then we were able to continue our journey.

Go out today and encourage someone!

Jesus bless you,
Goodbye.
