Content

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name. It is Friday morning. It is the 28th of October 2022, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

“Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.”
Philippians 4:11

“Now godliness with contentment is great gain.”
1 Timothy 6:6

I heard a prominent preacher say just the other day, “Know who you are, accept who you are and be who you are.” One of the greatest freedoms that I received when becoming a follower of Jesus Christ, was the liberty I found that I did not have to please other people. I had known the Lord for three months and I started preaching the Gospel. The leadership of the church I was involved in said I had to do a lay preachers course. One of the senior preachers said, “Leave him alone. Let him be who God created him to be otherwise you will ruin him.” I don’t know what he meant by that and I don’t know what there was to ruin. I want to say to dad today, and to mom, let your child be. She might not be a great athlete but have you ever heard her singing? Have you ever heard her play an instrument? The famous Dutch artist, Vincent Van Gogh, was regarded as very peculiar, and maybe he was, but do you know that his paintings today are priceless? You cannot buy them, there is not enough money. You see, it is Jesus Christ Himself that makes us content. He takes the pressure to perform off of us. We are not hirelings. We are sons and daughters of the Living God. We are His creation. Now if He is happy with us and our conduct, that is all that counts.

Jesus bless you and have a lovely day,
Goodbye.
