But God

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Wednesday morning, 13th July 2022, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan with a thought for today.

Psalm 43:5:

“Why are you cast down, O my soul?
And why are you disquieted within me?
Hope in God;
For I shall yet praise Him,
The help of my countenance and my God.”

The psalmist says that no less than three times in two psalms.

Hebrews 16:6:

“The Lord is my helper;
I will not fear.
What can man do to me?”

We need to ask ourselves that question today. Speak to yourself - why are you so cast down? Maybe one of the reasons is that we are spending time with negative people.

In Psalm 42:10, it says this:

“My enemies reproach me,
While they say to me all day long,
“Where is your God?”

Remember folks, eagles don’t fly around with turkeys. Your attitude will determine your altitude. Say to your soul this morning, two words, “But God!” It doesn’t matter what people say about you. It doesn’t matter what your situation looks like, ‘But God…” The battle is not against the flesh. It is in the mind.

2 Corinthians 10:4:

“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal (fleshly) but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds,”

Remember how many times in the past our Lord Jesus has pulled us out of the miry pit.

2 Corinthians 5:7 says we walk by faith and not by sight. Many years ago I had a total crop failure, an absolute disaster. We had a lot of staff, many, many people here and they had no crop to reap. Do you know what happened? An incident right out of context - we had a snowstorm in this area. It was so heavy that the timber and the forests were all broken and they looked like spaghetti. The forestry companies didn’t have enough staff to clear up and they gave us the job. That job saved us!

Mary, the mother of Jesus, says in Luke 1:46

“My soul magnifies the Lord,
And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Saviour.”

Do you remember this song?

Oh my soul hath magnified the Lord
And my spirit doth rejoice in God, my Saviour
For He who is mighty hath done great things
Oh glory to His name.
My soul doth magnify the Lord
My soul doth magnify the Lord

Sing it to your soul today just like Mary did.

Have a wonderful day.
Jesus bless you!
Goodbye.
