Through Christ

A very good morning to you - I greet you in Jesus’s name! It is Monday morning, 18th July, 2022, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

“…but the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits.”

Daniel 11:32

And then we go straight to the Book of Acts in the New Testament:

“…here he found a certain man named Aeneas, who had been bedridden eight years and was paralyzed. And Peter said to him, “Aeneas, Jesus the Christ heals you. Arise and make your bed.” Then he arose immediately. So all who dwelt at Lydda and Sharon saw him and turned to the Lord.”

Acts 9:33-35

If we desire to be used by God we need to spend time with Him. You see, it is Jesus alone who trains us to do great exploits for the Lord. It is Him alone that gives us the vigour and the victory, no-one else. It is Jesus alone who gives us strength for the strain. When we get to know the character, power, faithfulness and the love, then nothing is impossible to achieve in His name. When we know Him we can risk everything on His behalf. Paul said in Philippians:

“That I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death,…”

Philippians 3:10

When we get to know Jesus, it is He who excites our very enthusiasm and makes us willing to do the impossible for Him. When you spend time with the Lord, it is infectious, it is catchy. Spurgeon said, “A world of enemies shall be as a drop of water in the bucket when we are with God.”

I made an outrageous statement years ago at Kings Park Rugby Stadium, in Durban. I said, “To hell with El Nino! I am going back to plant potatoes.” I had no irrigation and on the radio farmers were warned not to plant because a terrible drought was coming. It was almost as if the devil was sticking his tongue out at the Lord. I said, “I am going back and I am going to plant potatoes.” We reaped a crop of potatoes that year, why? Because we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.

Have a wonderful day,
Jesus bless you and goodbye.
