Our Refuge

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Tuesday morning, 19th July 2022, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

“God is our refuge and strength,
A very present help in trouble.”
“Therefore we will not fear,
Even though the earth be removed,
And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea”

Psalm 46:1-2

If God is for us there can be no man who can stand against us.

Romans 8:31

If God is for us then what do we need to be afraid of? The devil is like a little mouse running around with a loudspeaker frightening people to death with malicious lies. I looked up the Oxford Dictionary to find the literal meaning of the word, refuge. A refuge is a place or state of safety from danger or trouble. Let's not make the same mistake that the disciples made when they ran away from the only person in the whole world who could help them in their time of trouble. I am talking about Jesus.

“Then all the disciples forsook Him and fled.”

Matthew 26:56

This was in the Garden of Gethsemane when the High Priest’s soldiers came to arrest the Son of God. John G Lake, the evangelist who came to South Africa and started a mighty revival said, “When you get up in the morning, get dressed and look into the mirror, you look at that person in the mirror, that man, that woman, and you say that wherever that person goes today, God is going with him or with her.” Then go out and enjoy the day, knowing that Psalm 46:7, says: “The Lord of Hosts is with us.”

Have a wonderful day.
Jesus bless you and goodbye.
