Expectation

A very good morning to you. I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 20th of August 2022, and this is your friend Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

“My soul, wait silently for God alone,
For my expectation is from Him.”
Psalm 62:5

Expectation comes from God alone.

“The Lord is my helper;
I will not fear.
What can man do to me?”
Hebrews 13:6

You see, when we put our expectation on the Lord, things change. It's not fair for us to put that burden of expectation on anyone else. It's not fair to do it to your husband, or your wife. It is not fair to expect that child of yours to excel and put pressure on them. It's not fair to put that pressure on your parents. You put your expectation on Jesus alone!

The Oxford Dictionary says that expectation means, the “belief that something will happen or be the case.” When we are spending quality time with our Lord Jesus, then we get to know His heart and we can expect accordingly. But if we do not wait on the Lord, silently and alone in His Presence, our expectations will run wild. We will start to ask and expect amiss. Remember, Jesus is not our ATM. You don't put your credit card in and expect Him to deliver, but when we walk according to His ways then we can be confident that He will do what He promised.

Faith like potatoes. It's a ridiculous statement, isn't it? You know, my expectation was not in the potatoes or the weather. No! It was in God and for His glory alone. The Lord and I had some very earnest talks while the crop, which everyone said I shouldn't plant, was growing. There were days when I'd go up to the field and there was no rain. It was during the time of El Nina and the plants were dripping, I'd sit down and wait silently and alone, and I believed with all my heart. God told me to plant those potatoes, and of course, He never once failed my expectation.

My faith grew and we received a crop of potatoes and that little story has gone right around the world. I hope you've read it and I hope it encourages you. If you put your expectation on Jesus, He will not fail you.

Have a wonderful Saturday.
God bless you and goodbye.
