Faith

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 21st of June, 2023, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. 

We start with Hebrews 11:1, a very famous scripture verse: 

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” 

”Have faith in God.” 
Mark 11:22

Now that is a good Scripture for somebody who is struggling with memorising scriptures. Come on granny, you can do it! Hebrews 11:1 and then Mark 11:22 simply says: “Have faith in God.”

C.H Spurgeon, the great English preacher said, “Faith is the road between our souls and Heaven. It's our connection to God.” Now, I often say to people when I am preaching, “God does not answer prayer", and then I just leave it hanging in the air and I can see people getting very uncomfortable in their chairs, and some are starting to get cross, and then I say, “God answers the prayer of faith.” It's the prayer of faith that connects you and me with our living God, not just prayer. You see, if you pray for something and you don’t believe it, it's not going to happen. God requires us to believe and to trust Him for what we ask Him. Mark 9:23 says,

"If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes."

We must be very careful that we don’t become so earthly-minded that we are of no heavenly use. You see, Jesus doesn’t want our efforts, He wants us. He doesn’t need us to do anything for Him. He wants to do things for us but we have to believe Him. He does not even need any of our expertise so to speak. I also want to say that we need to keep away from negative people because they are the ones that will say, “if” and they will say “but”, but we say, “But God!” They say it can’t happen but we say, “But God!”

Remember, our faith honours God and God always comes through for us when we walk by faith and not by sight - faith like potatoes! That's not what I said, that is what Peter Marshall said and I just use that cliché. We have got to have simple faith, faith that we can see, faith that we can believe for, simple faith and God answers that every time.

You know, even the disciples asked the Lord Jesus to please increase their faith. You will find that in Luke 17:5. 

I want to pray for you today. I just really feel I need to pray for you, that God will give you an extra impartation of faith. 

Father,

I pray for my dear friend who is listening to this very message now, that You will increase their faith just like You did for the disciples because Lord, this life we are living is tough and we cannot cope without trusting You. Please increase our faith today, in Jesus' name, amen.
