Faithful
I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Friday morning, the 14th of July, 2023, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.
We start in the Gospel of Matthew 25:21:
“His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.”
Faithfulness - it is a very high priority in God’s kingdom to be faithful and obedient. Faithful means to be loyal and committed. The other day I was speaking to a large group of men who asked me to mentor them. We were talking about being gentlemen for God, and one of the most important factors in being a gentleman for Jesus is to be a faithful man. Faithful first of all to God, then to his wife, then to his children and then to his fellow-workers.
The example I used was the black and white Border Collie dog who helps the shepherd look after the flock. The dog is totally focused on his master. It is quite amazing to see. A group of people can be standing together and that dog’s eyes and ears are watching every single movement of his master. When the master stands up, the dog stands up, when the master sits down, the dog lies down, when the master goes out, the dog goes with him. That is how you and I need to be, faithful and obedient to Jesus and our responsibility as Christians wherever we go.
The sheepdog is an amazing little animal. My son told me a story the other day. He said a shepherd had told his dog to lie down and wait and the shepherd had gone off to do something else. The dog was lying down in a grassy path and a tractor came along and the driver did not see the dog and that dog did not move. The tractor actually rode over the dog and killed the dog. The dog would not move.
I want to say to you today, you and I need to start being more faithful, more loyal and more committed to the Lord, and He will use us to bring many sheep into the fold.
Have a wonderful day,
Jesus bless you and goodbye.
