Family

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 11th of July, 2023, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

We start in the Book of Colossians 3:18-20:

"Wives, submit to your own husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.
Husbands, love your wives and do not be bitter toward them.
Children, obey your parents in all things, for this is well pleasing to the Lord."

That's right - we are talking about family today. Families are under extreme attack at the moment. The devil hates God and knows just how precious the family unit is to Jesus. Our precious Lord was sorting out family issues while suspended from the cross with crude spikes driven through His beautiful hands and feet. He was telling John to look after Mary, and he was telling Mary to look after John. We must clearly identify where the attack is actually coming from. It's coming from the devil and all his hordes of demons. It is not from your husband, it is not from your wife, and it is not from your children. How does he attack us? Well, very simply, by his filthy lies and untrue accusations. Please do not listen to them; otherwise they will literally destroy your precious home.

How do we combat this evil onslaught against our home? Well, number one is through combined prayer and secondly, communication. We must talk to each other. Now, remember the family that prays together, stays together. We must talk to each other. No, Mom, he didn't go to the club, that is not why he is late for supper. On the way home, he had a puncture in the back wheel of his motorcar. Your child desperately needs to speak to you about a problem at school, Dad. Give him a chance to talk to you. Be very careful. The devil is not coming in through the kitchen door. You have the front firmly buckled up, but he is coming in through the backdoor.

I heard a very sad story once. I believe it was true. A minister was busy counselling on a Thursday afternoon. His secretary came in and said, "Your next appointment is here", and in walked his eighteen-year-old son. He asked his son, "Is this some kind of joke?" He said, "No, Dad," with tears in his eyes, "I made an appointment to see you because it is the only way I can talk to you."

Don't let that happen in your family. Today, talk together and pray together.
Jesus bless you and goodbye.
