Fellowship
I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Saturday morning, it is the 10th of December, 2022, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.
“He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him. As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on Me will live because of Me.”
John 6:56
Now when the Lord Jesus told this to the disciples, he had over one hundred and twenty disciples. After He said this, they said that this was a very difficult thing, and then verse 66 says:
“From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more.”
John 6:66
Then Jesus was left with 12 disciples from about one hundred and twenty. The Lord was not talking about literally eating His flesh. No, He was talking about spending time with Him and feeding on His word, feeding on fellowship with Him in prayer and meditation. That is what He was talking about. We need to be spending time with Jesus all the time, not just when we take Holy Communion, when we say, “This is the Body of Christ broken for you. This is the New Covenant in the Blood of Jesus shed for you.” That is a very, very special time for me by the way, the most special of all the sacraments, but we do not only feed on Jesus at that time. We feed on the Lord 24 hours a day. The Lord is talking about fellowship. It is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Not you, Christ in you (Colossians 1:27). The Lord Jesus says, “If you have seen Me you have seen My Father.”
We really need to spend time in the presence of the Lord. Jesus is our meat and our drink, and the more time we spend in His presence, the stronger we become.
Jesus bless you and goodbye.
