Freedom

A very good morning to you - I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Saturday morning, it is the 11th of March, 2023 and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

"Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.“
2 Corinthians 3:17

Liberty wherever the Holy Spirit is found. Freedom! It comes from the love of the Holy Spirit that He puts into the lives of His children. I remember hearing a story of a very well-known preacher, David Wilkerson, the author of The Cross and The Switchblade. He went onto the platform at a very big meeting, stood there for a moment and then he walked off. He said, “There is no love here. The Spirit of God is not here. I cannot preach.” I want to tell you not to underestimate the Holy Spirit. You know, we are very quick to talk about God our Father, and we are very quick to talk about our friend, the Lord Jesus Christ but very often we forget about the Holy Spirit who is the Third Person in the Holy Trinity. He is for real. He is in this prayer room as I am speaking to you right now, I can feel Him, and He is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. When Jesus went home to be with His Father, He said, “I will not leave you as orphans, I will send you My Holy Spirit and He will help you.” The Helper! So today, we need to understand that wherever the Holy Spirit is found, there is liberty.

I remember speaking at the Feast of the Tabernacles, down at the Dead Sea, at Ein Gedi, where David hid from King Saul. It was a wonderful occasion, there were no less than eighty nations represented there. There were about five thousand delegates, maybe more, I don’t know but the Spirit of the Lord was in that place. Now folks, I can only speak English and Zulu and that is about the sum total of it, but I want to tell you, we had eighteen interpreters that night. There were people from every nation you could think of, but you know in an instant when I met them we were friends, we were brothers and sisters in Christ, like we had known each other all our lives. I am talking about Chinese people from mainland China, Russians, Argentinians, Portuguese, Spanish, Africans, Australians, and New Zealanders, from all over the world. Within an instant - why? - because the Spirit of the Lord was there and it gave us liberty.

Sadly to say, there are some people I have known for forty years and still, the closest I can get to them is a handshake, that is about all. There is no spirit of love there, just an association. Today remember, where the Spirit of God is, there is liberty and that is wonderful news.

Have a fantastic day today as you meet up with a fellow believer.

God bless you and goodbye.
