God's Opinion
I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 12th of March, 2023, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.
“Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and depart from evil.”
Proverbs 3:7
“Do not be wise in your own opinion.”
Romans 12:16
“Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.”
1 Corinthians 10:12
To be self-opinionated is a very dangerous place to be. To be opinionated means that your opinion is not necessarily based on fact or knowledge, it is just your opinion or my opinion. It is vital to get a second opinion and that is why I have four advisors, four trustees. These men have been my personal mentors for many, many years. They give me godly counsel and often they will correct me and say, “No, we don’t believe that that is God’s opinion for the situation.” People are not interested in our opinions or our fancies, and only want God’s opinion on the matter, and that is found in the Bible. The Bible must be the final authority of any opinion or dispute - especially in the home with moms and dads and the children, in the workplace or even on the sports field.
I remember a cup final many years ago. There was about a minute to go. There was a penalty decision given by the referee to the team that was winning by 2 points. All they had to do was to kick the ball out and it would have been their cup. But one of the players was absolutely adamant about giving his personal opinion. The referee said, “I am not interested in your opinion.” The player continued to give his opinion and the ref turned the penalty around to the losing side, who were losing by 2 points by the way. Their best player kicked the ball through the posts and won the match by 1 point and then the whistle was blown. So because of one man’s opinion, the team lost the cup final. I think he had to be escorted off the field because of the supporters.
Folks, let's hear what God’s opinion on the matter is and that is final.
Jesus bless you,
Goodbye.
