God's Way
I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 22nd of February, 2023, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.
“Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; But we will remember the name of the Lord our God.”
Psalm 20:7
“His spirit departs, he returns to his earth; In that very day his plans perish.”
Psalm 146:4
“However, we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing.”
1 Corinthians 2:6
Our trust is in God alone, not in the plans of man. You know the old saying, and I can say this because I am a farmer, “The farmer makes a plan” - “die boer maak n’ plan” - That is the Afrikaans version. Not one of them has ever worked for me thus far. An old lady wrote to me because I said that once on a radio programme years ago, and she said, “please don’t insult Afrikaans farmers.” I replied and said, “Aunty please forgive me, I didn’t mean only the Afrikaans farmers, I mean the English, the Scottish, the Irish, the Australian, the New Zealand and Nigerian farmers too!” But seriously, when we do things God’s way then things change dramatically.
I want to tell you about an Irish farmer who is farming in Scotland. Robert is a very dear friend of mine. I think he is one of the biggest strawberry farmers in the whole world. He has got an amazing setup. He also has a huge farm store, like a massive grocery store. He read a little book called, “Faith like Potatoes.” He was convicted about his shop being open on Sundays so he said to his staff, “We are not going to work on Sundays. We are going to rest on Sundays.” They said, “Why?” He said, “Because the Bible says in Exodus 20:10, that we must rest on one day of the week.” The workers said to him, “We will go bankrupt.” He said, “I don’t care, we are sticking to our guns. We are going to do this God’s way and use God’s plan.” Well, folks, he wrote to me months later to tell me that he was turning over more money, working six days and resting on the seventh than he ever did in his life before.
Let's do it God’s way today.
Jesus bless you and goodbye.
