Grace

A very good morning to you - I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Thursday morning, 22nd September 2022, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God.”
Ephesians 2:8

“My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.”
2 Corinthians 12:9-10

So when I am weak, then I am strong. I want to ask you a question, have you ever made an honest mistake? Have you ever done something that you didn’t mean to do because you didn’t know the truth? Of course, we all have. Romans 3:23 says for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. No one in the whole Bible knew that better than Paul, the Apostle of God. He made a terrible honest mistake. He actually thought he was helping God by killing and hunting down Jesus’ friends, the Christians. That is until he was arrested by Jesus Himself when he was knocked off his horse and a voice came out of Heaven on the road to Damascus.

“Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?”
And he said, “Who are You, Lord?”
Then the Lord said, “I am Jesus”
Acts 9:4

Our sin persecutes Jesus. Jesus died so that we could be rescued and saved from our sinful lives. Have you ever heard the term, “friendly fire?”. I heard a testimony of a Jew who had become a Christian, and while he was sharing the testimony, tears were running down his face. He said, “We have persecuted Christians, not knowing that we were doing it.” He spoke about the war zone, right on the border of Lebanon, a column of trucks full of soldiers were parked on the side of the road. The pilot in a warplane came down and pressed a couple of buttons and wiped out the whole regiment in a few seconds. He returned to the airbase only to find out, horrified, that they were his friends. They were Israeli soldiers. It was an honest mistake. You and I have made many of them.

We need to rely on the grace of God. Grace means undeserved loving kindness and unmerited favour. Jesus died so that we can have eternal life.
Let us not persecute Him anymore by our sinful lives.

Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,
Goodbye.
