Before and Behind Us
A very good morning to you. I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Saturday morning, 10th September 2022, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.
“Blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed shall you be when you go out.”
Deuteronomy 28:6
The Lord Jesus says:
“If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.”
John 15:7
When we are walking in the ways of the Lord, we don’t have to be fearful or timid because we are confident that the Lord Jesus Christ always goes before us. Therefore when we go out, we know that the Lord is going before us and when we come back home, we know that He is there, waiting for us. When I am doing God’s work, God’s way, then I am at peace and know that He is watching over my home, my family, my children, my grandchildren, especially when I am away. He is going with me. He is indeed a friend that sticks closer than any brother and when it comes to my appointments, I believe that He settles them before I even get there.
One of my favourite Scriptures is Matthew 6:33:
“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these (other) things shall be added to you.”
In Zululand, if you have the privilege of visting a family who live in a traditional Zulu home, you will find that it is round, it has a beautiful thatched roof and it has a low door in the front. You have to bend quite low to go in through the door. It is quite dark inside but very cool in summer and obviously very warm in winter. When the gentleman takes you to his home, he will always go into the hut before you, and when I first was invited to one of these homes, I used to think, surely the guest must go in first, but no! The reason being is that he wants to show you that it is safe inside and that you are welcome because he is protecting you. Isn’t that beautiful? That is exactly what Jesus does - He goes before us and He is also behind us.
So today, remember, that when you go out or when you come home, the Lord is going with you. Have a beautiful Saturday and Jesus bless you!
Goodbye.
