Hard Workers

It is Tuesday morning and I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 28th of March, 2023, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

Go to the ant, you sluggard!
Consider her ways and be wise,
Which, having no captain,
Overseer or ruler,
Provides her supplies in the summer,
And gathers her food in the harvest.
How long will you slumber, O sluggard?
When will you rise from your sleep?
A little sleep, a little slumber,
A little folding of the hands to sleep—
So shall your poverty come on you like a prowler,
And your need like an armed man.
Proverbs 6:6-11

Folks, we have no place to be lazy as children of God. The Lord our God does not accept laziness. There is no excuse for being lazy. Laziness is to be bone-idle, showing a lack of effort or care. Jesus is our prime example of being a hard worker. Do you know, even in the Garden of Gethsemane, He was praying when the disciples were sleeping? He said,

“Can you not watch with me, not even for one hour?”
Matthew 26:40

A good start would be to get up early in the morning, I am not joking. We have to lead from the front, we have got to be a good example to our children. We should always be at work before our staff get there. We should always be found to be smartly dressed, our shoes shining. Don’t be late for work, don’t be late for your appointment because you know, eventually it is no longer a joke and folk will start to despise us for being constantly late. There are no excuses for laziness.

The Lord God created you and me to work. We were created for work and you know, it is so satisfying to have done a good hard day’s work and to come home and have a good shower and then sit there and speak with your family, feeling that you have done your work for the day. Let’s glorify God through our work ethic. You know the old saying, “If you want a job done, you always find a busy person”, don’t you? He or she will get the job done for you.

So let’s glorify God by how we live and no longer be lazy people but industrious people who love to work hard for Jesus. God bless you and have a wonderful day!

Goodbye.
