Open Your Mouth

A very good morning to you, I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Monday morning, 5th of September, the birds are singing in the trees, it is springtime in South Africa, the year 2022. This is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. Psalm 81:10 - the Lord says:

”Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.”

And then Acts 18:9-10:

“Now the Lord spoke to Paul in the night by a vision, “Do not be afraid, but speak, and do not keep silent; for I am with you, and no one will attack you to hurt you; for I have many people in this city.”

God empowers those He calls and He has called you and I to be witnesses for Him, right around the world. Now, remember speaking is a doing word, it is a verb, not a noun. A noun is like a chair or a table, but speaking requires action and to implement that action requires one vital ingredient - That's right, it is called faith! Without it, we'll never get started and we will never please God.

“But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”

Hebrews 11:6

On Christmas Eve 1989, Jesus spoke to me, almost audibly, through this very scripture - Acts18:9. I used to get into my farm pick-up, drive to my maze crop, my corn crop. I would drive right into the middle of it, go up a contour bank, get on the back of the pick-up, and use it as an imaginary pulpit or platform. Don't laugh, this is the absolute truth... I don't tell lies anymore, I'm a Christian now! And by raw undiluted faith, I would start to preach to the maize plants that were now standing about six feet tall! In those days we used to plant approximately 40,000 plants per hectare and we had a hundred hectares. That's a lot of maize plants. I would preach my heart out, making sure nobody was watching me. Then I would make a serious altar call and call people to repent and to follow after Jesus Christ as Lord and Redeemer. Then the Lord, and this is the truth, would send a nice gentle breeze and all the plants would bow their heads.

You know, Jesus has honoured that small step of faith and He's turned those maize plants into precious souls time and time again. He can do it for you today. Just be obedient and do what He tells you to do.

Have a wonderful day.
Jesus bless you and goodbye.
