Intercession

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Monday morning, the 24th of July, 2023, and this is Angus Buchan with a thought for today. We go to Hebrews 4:16:

"Let us, therefore, come boldly to the throne of Grace, that we may obtain mercy and find Grace to help in time of need."

I want to speak to you about prayer, especially intercession. Now what is an intercessor? My wife is an intercessor, and I also have a son in the Lord who is heading up an intercessory ministry for Shalom ministries. Something like 3000 people around the world are interceding on our behalf. An intercessor is someone who stands in the gap and prays on behalf of others. Now the greatest intercessor that has ever lived is the Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and even as I talk to you now, He is interceding on our behalf.

So how do we pray? I can hear somebody saying, "I struggle to pray." Well, this is how I pray. I pray to my Heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ my Lord, by the power of the Holy Spirit - Three in One; this is a team effort. Sometimes, I don't even know how to pray, but the Holy Spirit helps me. Sometimes I don't know what to pray, and He directs me. He is the Helper that is His name, and Jesus is the one who is standing in the gap. He's coming to our Heavenly Father on our behalf and interceding for us.

So you need to find a quiet place, sit down quietly, meditate, and the Holy Spirit will bring to your attention things that you need to pray. To pray for your loved ones, maybe you've got a relative overseas, and you just feel burdened for them but you don't really know what to pray. Ask the Lord Jesus Christ, through the power of the Holy Spirit, to make your petition to our Heavenly Father, and you will be surprised at the answers you get through these simple prayers. Most of all, don't stop praying. Pray without ceasing.

Have a wonderful day today. Remember, you can pray out loud, you can pray quietly in your heart, you can pray a quiet prayer that God hears, and He, through Jesus, will make sure that prayer gets answered.

God bless you and goodbye.
