Reaping in Joy

A very good morning to you! It is Friday morning, the 22nd of April 2022, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

If we go straight to Psalm 30:5:

“Weeping may endure for a night,
But joy comes in the morning.”

And then John 16:22:

“Therefore you now have sorrow; but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and your joy no one will take from you.”

How are you feeling this morning? Do you feel like giving up? Well, please don’t even go there... Jesus has promised that He is coming back for us. You know, He talks about childbirth - He says when a woman is having a baby, it is very painful indeed, physically painful as well. But what joy when that baby is born... to see the face of that mother! The pain instantly disappears even though she has gone through a very torrid time.

I want to say that this is for the gentlemen listening, if having babies were left up to the men, to give birth, this world would be extinct! That’s right because we are a bunch of sissies, aren’t we? But I want to salute the ladies this morning - What an amount of pain you endure for the birth of that little blessing from the Lord.

You know, one of South Africa’s greatest sportsmen, I am talking about Gary Player, who won the major golf titles in the whole world - somebody once said to him, “Gary, you are so lucky. You seem to hit the ball so sweetly all the time.” And his reply was, “Yes, it's funny. The harder I practice, the luckier I seem to get.” Yes, no pain, no gain. We need to keep on, keeping on for Jesus. We need to keep focused because the Lord is coming back, sooner than you think, and we need to be ready for Him. You say, “But it’s so hard.” I know it is, I really do know exactly what you are feeling.

Psalm 126 verse 5, Jesus says:

“Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy.”

When Jesus meets us on that wonderful day all the pain, the suffering will disappear. Have a wonderful day and God bless you.

Goodbye.
