Safe Place

A very good morning to you, it is Saturday morning, 23rd of April, 2022 and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

“The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed,
A refuge in times of trouble.”

Psalm 9:9

And then we go straight to that famous Psalm:

“Because he (that is you and I) has set his love upon Me (that is the Lord Jesus), therefore I will deliver him; (or her)
I will set him on high, because he has known My name.
He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble;
I will deliver him and honor him.”

Psalm 91:14-15

Have you got a safe place? Is there somewhere in the house, business, school or the hospital... a place where you can find refuge from the trouble of this world? Remember, the Lord says to us not to run from Him but rather to run to Him. We must not be like the disciples in the Garden of Gethsemane when they all fled and left Jesus on His own. The only person in the whole world that could have saved them and they ran away from Him, we must be careful that we don’t do that.

You know that great English preacher Charles Haddon Spurgeon, they called him the 'prince of preachers' - At the age of 21, they built him the London Tabernacle, which can seat 10,000 people... He had no formal education. But do you know something, He knew the Man from Galilee. Now the way he got saved was one night in a tremendous snowstorm. He was trying to get out of the storm and he slipped into a little country church where he heard a layman, probably a farmworker, preaching. He heard one word, Isaiah 45:22:

“Look to Me, and be saved”

It changed his life. He found his safe place. William Carey took the Gospel to India. He translated the Bible from English into many Asiatic languages. He worked non-stop but he had a safe place, he had a refuge. He had a rose garden. He said he would go and sit in his rose garden and he would find peace. He said, “Attempt great things for God and expect great things from God.”

Jesus went up the mountain. Many times the disciples said, “Where are You, Lord? We can’t find you. The multitudes, the crowds are waiting for you - He was in His safe place. He was hearing from His Father in Heaven, for instruction. What about you today? My safe place is riding my horse, Snowy. I get so much joy and peace for my spirit-man when I am on my horse. I also have a quiet time place. I spend time in the place of refuge and that is where the Lord strengthens me. You do the same today.

Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day.
Goodbye.
