Keep Hope Alive
I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Monday morning, the 9th of January, 2023, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.
“Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
Romans 15:13
If there is no aim then there is no purpose. Remember that scripture in Proverbs 29:18? Where there is no vision the people perish. If you aim at nothing, you are sure to hit it.
I read a book by Victor Frankl. This Jewish man had lived through the horrific holocaust in the Second World War, where millions of Jews perished in the concentration camps. He saw human nature in its raw state. People who lost hope simply gave up and died, but those who kept on hoping survived. He saw that it wasn’t so much the lack of food or even sickness and disease that killed the people in those concentration camps. It was when people no longer wanted to live. Our hope in this sad world is one person. His name is Jesus Christ, and it is in Him alone that you and I must hope. It is not in an organisation, it is not in a government, it is not even in a denomination. It is in a person. His name is Jesus Christ. He alone is our vision, He is our first love and our soon-coming King. Don’t give up, He could very well even come back today.
Remember, faith is for now, and hope is for the future, so we need to walk daily by faith but we need to keep our hope alive, and that comes by spending time in prayer, and reading your Bible daily, it comes by living a disciplined life and by getting ourselves prepared for home time.
Remember my dear friend, this place is not our permanent home. You and I are simply sojourners. We are travellers. We are passing through this life. We are going home to be with Jesus and those loved ones of ours who love Him as well, who have gone before us. Don’t despair! The future is bright for those who love the Lord. So let's be like Paul who said,
“For me to live is Christ and to die is but gain.”
Philippians 1:21.
Have a wonderful day today as you put your hope in the King of Kings.
God bless you and goodbye.
