The Word

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 10th of January, 2023, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

“All flesh is as grass,
And all the glory of man as the flower of the grass.
The grass withers,
And its flower falls away,
But the word of the Lord endures forever.”
1 Peter 1:24

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.”  
John 1:1

Jesus was with His Father from the beginning. Jesus is the Word of God. If someone says, “Show me this Jesus you are always talking about”, then give them a Bible. From the beginning of time, the word of God has endured. People have tried to destroy this book. They tried to burn it, and they threatened believers with death if the Bible was found in their homes but the more persecution they faced, the more prolific the Bible becomes. 

We have taken tons of Bibles into Central Africa into areas where there has little or no evangelism taking place, with us in that big seed sower - of course the seed is the word of God, and yet, after preaching the Gospel to those precious people, right in unreached people groups, we have handed out Bibles to masses of people, and I have seen scenes that I will never forget. I have seen grown men fighting fisticuffs with each other because they do not want to miss out on getting a Bible. I am not talking about a tract or the Gospel of John. I am talking about the whole Bible, from Genesis right through to Revelation. It is something I will never forget as long as I live.  

Now, what motivates people who have never heard about Jesus to want a Bible? It is because of the power of the written word of God. You see it is not just a book, It is God speaking to His people through print. 

 I want to encourage you this year, as you start 2023, to start using this book sincerely and I want to tell you that every question that you have ever asked will be answered through this beautiful book, the Bible.
