Shine Like a Light
A very good morning to you. I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Friday morning, the 12th of August 2022, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.
“For so the Lord has commanded us:
‘I have set you as a light to the Gentiles,
That you should be for salvation to the ends of the earth.’“Acts 13:47
‘I will also give You as a light to the Gentiles,
That You should be My salvation to the ends of the earth.’Isaiah 49:6
We have a responsibility. We have to show the people, who are lost, the way home - Jesus is the Light of the world! (John 8:12). People are so lost at the moment, all over the world. I have a picture in my mind of a little boy, maybe three years old and he has been separated from his mommy, maybe in a shopping mall, and she has lost him. He is standing in the middle of the corridor, people are walking to and fro. Everybody is busy with their own things and this little chap, his eyes full of tears, is wailing. Nobody can hear him because of the loud music. His nose is running, he is hanging onto his little teddy bear and he is beside himself. Oh, folks, it makes me cry just to draw that picture for you, but that is what is happening in the world today.
The world has become chaotic, just listen to the news and you will see. I saw a picture on the news of a farmer in the Ukraine, driving his combine harvester in a huge field of beautiful golden wheat, ready for reaping. But he is trying to avoid the craters in the middle of the field from Russian bombs dropped by warplanes, and they were flying over his head as he was trying to harvest his crop - Madness!
People are groping in the darkness like never before. They cannot find a way out of this jungle. It has no roads and no lights, but Jesus says that we have to tell them that He is The Way (John 14:6). We have a responsibility. We have got to get hold of that little boy and take him to his mommy. She is beside herself. She doesn’t know the way. We have to show them the way and it is a case of all hands on deck. Old age pensioners, don’t sit in that waiting room, you are not doing any good there. Tell people about the way! Young boys and girls at school, be bold, be brave, and tell people that Jesus is the answer. The uneducated, the poor, the rich - tell people that Jesus is the Light of the world. Remember, evangelism is just one hungry beggar showing another hungry beggar where to find bread.
