Wait

A very good morning to you. I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 11th of August 2022, and this is your friend Angus Buchan with a thought for today.

“You will keep him in perfect peace,
Whose mind is stayed on You,
Because he trusts in You.
Trust in the Lord forever,
For in Yah, the Lord, is everlasting strength.”
Isaiah 26:3-4

We need to stop rushing around. We need to wait for the Lord. Many of us do not even give Jesus an opportunity to work on our behalf. We pray and ask him to help us and then before He can move, we are vainly attempting to do it ourselves. It was the downfall of the first king of Israel, King Saul. He would not wait. The prophet Samuel said to him, “What have you done?”. He was waiting for the prophet of God to come and make a sacrifice before the battle started, but he saw that his own men were starting to leave and the enemy’s numbers were building up. So he thought, “Well, I'll do it myself" and that impulsive, foolish act cost Saul his entire kingship. You can read it in 1 Samuel 13:11. We need to stop rushing around, seeking counsel from everybody, after the Lord Jesus has purposely told us to wait for Him.

Many, many years ago, as I was starting farming, we were going through a bit of a drought period just after we had planted our maize crop. The soil had a hard crust on it and the seeds were germinating, but they couldn't get through. Many farmers put the plough in and started doing their land preparation all over again. That cost extra fertiliser, extra fuel, and a loss of time. I felt the Lord wanted me to wait and so I did not do that. I took a cultivator and I put it on the back of a high-speed tractor and I sped across the top of the hard crust of the soil, cracked the crust so the little seeds could germinate and then they started coming through the ground. Straight after that, the rain came. We had a beautiful harvest that year. We were about three to four weeks ahead of the men that had ploughed their crop into the ground.

I want to say to you today, if the Lord has told you to do something, learn to wait upon Him. He will not be late, He will not be early - He will be spot on time!

Have a wonderful day and Jesus bless you.

Goodbye.
