Stand Still
What a beautiful promise! And if we go to Exodus 14:13
“And Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever.”
What a promise from the Lord! The key here today, I believe is not to panic, but rather wait upon the Lord. That is what Moses told the children of Israel to do. They had the Red Sea in front of them and behind them, the most powerful army in the world coming down upon them. What were they to do? Moses said: "Do not panic. Stand still because the Lord will fight for you."
Nothing has changed today. With this COVID-19 threat, this spirit of fear pervading the world, we need to stand still and not panic because He will deliver us from whatever we are going through at present. The absolute worst thing to do when the pressure is on is to run - Do not do it! Let the storm that you are experiencing at the moment, subside - and by the way, it will, and then you can make a calculated godly decision.
You know, I am an impulsive man by nature, ask my wife she will tell you. Before I met Jesus I made many foolish decisions on the spur of the moment... Don’t do it - Wait upon the Lord.
One of my favourite scriptures is:
“But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.”
Isaiah 40:31
Look at God’s creation. You see a flock of geese migrating from the north to the south, then when they see a huge black storm coming up on the horizon what do they do? They don’t panic, they find a little pond. They go and land there and they shelter in that place. They tuck in their wings, they face the storm and they wait... wait for the storm to pass. When the sun comes out and the clouds part, they continue on their journey, safely to their destination.
Do not panic today, wait upon the Lord. Don’t just follow the crowd - Do what the Lord tells you to do. And, mostly today, He’s telling you to, one word: “Wait!”
God bless you and goodbye.
