Our Supplier

Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet
Before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord.
And he will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children,
And the hearts of the children to their fathers,
Lest I come and strike the earth with a curse.
— Malachi 4:5-6

“And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus”. Philippians 4:19

Why do we have such short memories?
If we go back to Mark 8:21 the Lord said to His disciples:

“How is it you do not understand?”

You see, Jesus is our supplier and no one else. Jesus is our healer. Jesus is our protector. You see, twice He had fed the multitudes with just a couple of little fish and a few loaves of bread and after they collected baskets of leftovers. Now the disciples are in the boat and they were concerned because they had only brought one loaf of bread with them.

Jesus says to them, “How is it that you just don’t get it? You just don’t understand? I have just fed 4000 people and then I fed another 5000 people, now you are complaining and arguing because you only brought one loaf of bread with you for the journey?”

You know, it is pathetic when you think about it but don’t we do that all the time? How would you like it, dad, if your little boy of 8 or 10 years old came to you and said, “Dad, will we have food for supper tonight? Will there be something for us to eat?”

“Son, have you ever gone to bed without food without food in this house?”
“No, dad.”
“Well, how can you doubt me?”
Well, I am sure that our Lord Jesus must often feel the same way when He sees us, His children, scurrying about trying to make our survival plans. Remember, He says to us in Hebrews

“I will never leave you and I will never forsake you.”
Hebrews 13:5

Folks, we need to get our memories into action and to remember how many times God has pulled us through times of difficulty. I know, as a farmer, I can’t tell you how many droughts we have survived yet every time the rain goes away, we start to complain and worry. It must really hurt the Lord. Today, let us start to thank God, by faith, in anticipation for what He is going to give us, how He is going to protect us, how He is going to heal us and how He is going to take care of us.

Have a wonderful day today as you put your trust, not in the bread but in the baker - Jesus Christ.
God bless you and goodbye.
