Fear Not

I greet you warmly in Jesus’ precious name! It is Sunday morning, 20 November 2022, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

“The Lord is my light and my salvation;
Whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the strength of my life;
Of whom shall I be afraid?”
Psalm 27:1

What a beautiful reassurance!

“The Lord is my helper;
I will not fear.
What can man do to me?”
Hebrews 13:6

And then Romans 8:31:

"if Christ be for us then who can stand against us?"

What a blessed assurance we have! If we live, we live for Christ, if we die, we go to Heaven - How can you frighten a Christian with Heaven! In Philippians 1:21, Paul says:

“For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.”

You can’t frighten a Christian with Heaven, the only thing we need to fear is fear itself. Fear comes from satan, it comes from the pit of hell. 2 Timothy 1:7, the Lord says:

“I have not given you a spirit of fear but of power, of love and of a sound mind.”

The devil is trying to make us afraid with his lies. He is like a little mouse running around with a loud-hailer making us scared. The devil is a thief and a deceiver - That is all he is!

“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.” But Jesus said, “I came to give you life, abundantly.”
John 10:10

I remember clearly, as a small, little boy, going to watch a huge rugby final, a rugby match with my dad. Walking into the crowded grandstands with all these huge, excited men, some drinking beer, some very raucous it was quite overwhelming for a little boy of 5 or 6 years old. Then, all of a sudden, I felt the huge powerful hand of the blacksmith gently squeeze my little hand and say, “Its okay son, don’t worry, I have got you.”

Maybe you are feeling afraid today with everything that is taking place in your life. Jesus says, “Don’t worry, I have got you!”

Have a wonderful Sunday,
God bless you and goodbye.
