The Holy One

“Now in the synagogue, there was a man who had a spirit of an unclean demon. And he cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Let us alone! What have we to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth? Did You come to destroy us? I know who You are—the Holy One of God!”
Luke 4:33

Even the demons recognise Jesus as the Holy One of God. In fact, that is the first person who acknowledged Jesus Christ as the Son of God and yet, just before that he was in Nazareth, His home town, and everyone rejected Him... they even tried to murder Him.

Jesus is known by many titles. The one I love the most is: “The Friend of sinners.” Jesus came for the sick, He did not come for the righteous. Jesus says:

“Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”
Mark 2:17

That is why I love Him so much... because He came to save an unrighteous man like me! I just love the story of Mary Magdalene - Mary, out of whom seven demons were cast, that's right! You can read it in Luke 8:2.

Maybe somebody listening to this message this morning is saying, “Is there any hope for a sinner like me?” Well, I want to tell you, with joy in my heart, that Jesus specializes in taking nobodies and making them into somebodies. I remember a preacher coming from overseas, many years ago. I was a new Christian and he said, “You will never turn a donkey into a racehorse.” I said, “No, no, no - You have got that wrong! I am the donkey and He has made me into a racehorse!”

I want to say to you, that is exactly what Jesus does. I believe this is just my personal opinion - the most beautiful woman in Heaven will be Mary Magdalene, that is right - She will be the most beautiful woman in Heaven. Why, because God does not make junk! God takes sinners and turns them into saints. You see, she never abandoned him, did she? She was the first one that went down to the tomb on the day that Jesus was resurrected.

You can read it in John 20:1... the very first one there. He who I have forgiven much, loves Me the most. Luke 7:47

Be encouraged today. Jesus loves you! All He wants you to do is to say sorry, repent, pick yourself up, dust yourself off and get back in the race.
