The Same Power

You say, “Why are you so excited today, Angus?”

Well, because there is music on the roof. It is raining on this tin roof - I hope you can hear it. If we go straight to John 17:22, this is the Lord Jesus speaking:

“And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one.”

The Lord Jesus Christ has given us (through the Holy Spirit) the same power that His Father gave Him when He walked on this earth. If ever people needed Jesus - they need Him today.

I remember that wonderful old evangelist, T.L. Osborn, once said, “Some people are dead, even when their hearts are still pumping.” - That's quite sad, isn’t it? I think that is the case at the moment. A lot of people are just down. We really need to encourage them. We need to portray the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ wherever we go today.

“But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead ( that is the Holy Spirit) will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.
Romans 8:11

We have no excuses. If Jesus Christ is our Lord and Saviour, we need to go out there and encourage people in every sphere of life. When we go into the presence of people, they should see Jesus in us. They should see the peace, confidence and joy - And we should be praying for the sick because God told us to do that. It was the last thing He said before He went to Heaven in Mark 16:15:

“Go into all the world and preach the gospel…”

Lay your hands upon the sick - we need to do it today. Let us show the love of Jesus. Now, what makes us do that? It is what He did for us. People need love, people are desperate for love. That is all that Mother Theresa did. She went into the streets of Calcutta. People who were dying, lying in the gutter, their bodies moving with maggots, she would go and lay her hands upon them. And they would say: “But why are you doing this?” and she would say because this is what Jesus told her to do.

Go out today, love people, and the power of God will go before you.
