Keep The Vision
“Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint” - What does that mean?
Proverbs 29:18
It means if you have got nothing to get up for in the morning, you become very slack. If we go to Habakkuk 2:2:
Then the Lord answered me and said:
“Write the vision
And make it plain on tablets,
That he may run who reads it.
For the vision is yet for an appointed time;
But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie.
Though it tarries, wait for it;
Because it will surely come,
It will not tarry.”
We need to keep the vision. I looked up the word vision in the Oxford Dictionary. One of the meanings is The ability to think about or to plan for the future, with imagination or wisdom.
What is your vision, young man? Do you want to play rugby for your country? Well then, you better get up in the morning! You better start doing some training before you go to school or to university. You better cut back on the hamburgers and the cokes and start eating meat and training hard.
You see, if you have got nothing to get up for, then you start to give up. At Shalom we say: "If your vision doesn’t scare you, then it is not big enough.” Why do we say that? We say that because when it works, God gets all the glory. People will say, “There is no ways they could have done that!” And that is so wonderful, isn’t it? You see, to cast off restraint literally means, “You have nothing to look forward to.” We really need to keep that vision sharp today, otherwise, we have nothing to study for, nothing to train for and you have nothing to live for in fact.
Now, I want to say to you that there are people in the world right now that are dying. They are going to a lost eternity because they have never met the Man from Galilee. They have never heard the Word of Jesus. And we, are the letter that the Lord is giving to tell the world that He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. You will find that in John 14:6.
Remember, there is more than one way to preach the Gospel, In fact, behind the pulpit is maybe the least effective. If you are a sportsman, you have got an instant congregation. You can play your heart out and then tell people about Jesus because you have got a platform. A businessman, maybe you have got money. Make more money and put it into the Kingdom because we need money in the Kingdom of God, to get the word out there. Maybe you are a school teacher or a lecturer at university. You have got a captive audience - young people who are looking for something to do which is constructive.
Don’t wander away. Keep the vision and have a wonderful day.
God bless you.
