Miracles of Kindness

Then the men of the city said to Elisha, “Please notice, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord sees; but the water is bad, and the ground barren.” And he said, “Bring me a new bowl, and put salt in it.” So they brought it to him. Then he went out to the source of the water, and cast in the salt there, and said, “Thus says the Lord: ‘I have healed this water; from it there shall be no more death or barrenness.’ ”
So the water remains healed to this day, according to the word of Elisha which he spoke.
— 2 Kings 2:19-22

Now a miracle of kindness is what we need in the world today. I have been to Jericho - It is one of the oldest cities in the world, it is thousands of years old. I have been to that fountain, to that spring, the water is still sweet even today, thousands of years later.

An act of kindness is what we need to do as believers for the world today.

I know a young couple who I am mentoring, actually - They come from Pretoria. Together with a group of young people, they have designed a street shower. It is a portable machine that they park on the side of the street, and for the poor, homeless and the needy, they give them a beautiful hot shower. Then they give them clothes to wear, new shoes, new clothes and then they preach the Gospel to them, break bread with them and have Holy Communion - Practical Christianity!

Now, I can hear somebody saying, “Oh but Angus, you can’t get to Heaven by good works.” - Nobody knows that better than me but we have got to put our faith into action. Faith has got feet, it is a doing word.

You know, I get little pictures sent to me in the post from small children, some of them only seven or eight years old, pictures of a cowboy and an Appalachian horse called Snowy. Do you know that those little pictures touch my heart more deeply than if somebody had sent me an amazing painting from Rembrandt or Picasso because those little children have done it out of a heart of love.

Jesus says:

“Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.” Matthew 25:40

We have a group of young people on the farm who have taken it upon themselves to take hot soup and food to old pensioners in town who are queuing up at the Post Office from about 3am in the morning because they don’t want to lose their place. They are freezing cold and they have hardly any clothes to wear. These young people take hot soup and food and telling them about the love of Jesus.

Go out today and do a miracle of kindness for the poor and the needy.
God bless you and goodbye.
