All Your Needs

For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
— 1 Timothy 6:10

It is not money but rather the love of money, which is the root of all kinds of evil. If we look at Psalm 37 the word of God says:

“A little that a righteous man has
Is better than the riches of many wicked.”
Psalm 37:16

To have a simple meal with love is much better and tastier than a banquet where there is none. And you will find that in Proverbs:

“Better is a dinner of herbs where love is,
Than a fatted calf with hatred.”
Proverbs 15:17

Mother taught me, when I was a small boy, that when you are invited to a celebrity’s house, when you sit at the dining room table and are confronted with a huge display of knives, forks and spoons... If you don’t know where to start and you don’t want to embarrass yourself: “Always remember Angus, start from the outside and work inwards. Work from the outside inwards. But when you are invited to a poor man’s house, if he eats with his bare hands then you heartily follow.” And by the way, I always think that food tastes so much better when eaten with your hands.

You know, a good definition of the word greed, my wife told me the other day: “Greed is to want more than you need.” The Oxford Dictionary says, “Greed is an intense and selfish desire for wealth, power or food.” You see, the Lord says to us in Philippians 4:19, that He will supply all of your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus our Lord. Not your wants but your needs!

But always remember, it was a rich man who took our Lord Jesus’s precious body off the cross, embalmed it and put that precious body in his own personal tomb.

Have a wonderful day and go out today and bless somebody with the love of Christ.
