Chewing The Cud

If we go to probably the most well-loved Psalm in the Bible, Psalm 23:

“The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.”
Psalm 23:1

And then if we go to Philippians in the New Testament:

“And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:19

Friends, the flock of sheep trust the Good Shepherd.

“Be still, and know that I am God”
Psalm 46:10

Somebody said that they saw that sign on the side of a building but the word 'God' had fallen off and it read, “Be still and know that I am…” Remember, Moses said, “Lord, who shall I tell Pharaoh sent me?” He said, “Tell him I AM has sent you.”He is everything that you and I need today.

We need to quietly get on with the job at hand... that is what my wife keeps telling me, listening to the Holy Spirit. You see, nothing has changed in the heavens. Jesus is still firmly seated on His throne. Do what you have to do and what you can do and then leave the rest to God - That’s right! There is nothing more restful to me than to see a shepherd with his flock of sheep grazing peacefully and contentedly on a hillside. There is nothing more frustrating than sheep who will not obey the shepherd, running to and fro, all over the place, totally out of control. That is a dangerous place to be because the wolf, that’s right - he waits for that disobedient sheep, that straggler and he takes him out.

We really need to listen today to the voice of the Good Shepherd.

Sit down quietly on this Sunday with your family. Have that cup of tea or coffee with the family and meditate on the goodness of Jesus Christ, our Good Shepherd. Chew the cud... I can hear some of the townies saying, “What does that mean?” Well, the old cow has got three stomachs. He goes out early in the morning and eats the grass. When he has got a full stomach he goes and finds a shady place, lies down, puts his head up in the air - I love to watch it - and he regurgitates his grass and he enjoys it and chews it a second time.

Chew the cud with your family today and spend time with Almighty God and He will strengthen you and fortify you.

God bless you and goodbye.
